Paint wallpaper and wonder how you can best tackle it? You can paint over wallpaper, with which you can give the living room, the bedroom or another room a new color. Ideal for a fresh color or a different appearance, without having to re-wallpaper.
Note: do you want to paint over wallpaper? That is only possible if this is properly secured. Does that not seem the case? Use a fairly thick layer with wallpaper glue, but remove excess glue immediately.

Prepare and paint
You can paint over wallpaper as long as you ensure the correct preparation. For example, it is important to properly protect the floor and to seal the edges. Also tape off any baseboards, just like the furniture you want to protect.
Then you have to clean the wallpaper that you want to paint. You can use a damp sponge for this. Then check the wallpaper for small holes, such as screws or nails. You can use an all-purpose filler or other filler to fill it up, so that you can then start painting.
Is the wallpaper neat and tidy? You can then paint over the wallpaper, with which you can apply the new color. You can best start with the edges and corners, for which you naturally use a brush.

Once you have the corners and edges you can paint the surface, both horizontally and vertically. Apply a few layers, depending on the color difference that you want to bridge. Do you want to go over dark wallpaper with a light color? Then you need more layers for that than when the color difference is much smaller. Do you suffer from blowing while painting? Most air bubbles disappear after drying the wall paint. Unfortunately they sometimes stay put. Wait until the paint is dry and make a vertical notch with a hobby knife. You can open the bladder with it. Put some glue behind it and press the loose parts from the sides again, so that all the air disappears.…
